Patio heaters
Following these steps when buying patio heaters will help
your buying process go much more smoothly:
• Look at furniture stores – Many outdoor
furniture stores will also sell items like patio heaters. Because these
are not extremely common items (like milk or bread), you may need to
ask for assistance to find them. This will particularly be true if you
visit a big box home improvement store.
• Think about heat – The type of patio
heaters you choose should simply be able to warm the area around you,
which is usually a 20-foot circle in diameter. Look at the specifications
carefully. The biggest and most expensive patio heaters are not necessarily
the ones that will provide the most heat for your dollar.
• Consider safety – It is important that
you make sure that the patio heaters you buy meet all safety specifications.
Some of the best patio heaters, as far as safety goes, will include
tilt switches, sealed burners, flame controls, electronic ignitions
and emergency cut-off valves.
• What about economics? – Sure getting
the nicest patio heaters with the best features is great, but these
heaters are not always the most economically feasible. You will want
to choose a heater that uses the kind of bottled fuel that is both economical
as well as available in your area. This could include kerosene, butane,
propane or natural gas.
• Infrared is good – You should look for
patio heaters that include infrared elements with aluminum reflectors
that are used to divert the radiating heat down and out from the heater.
These poles are sometimes described as “mushroom” or “umbrella”
poles.
