Patio lighting

If you want to be able to install patio lighting, there are a few simple steps that you can follow to simplify the process. These steps include:

• Measure – the first thing that you need to do long before you actually begin to install the patio lighting is determine how much lighting you want, then measure to see how this lighting will fit into the area that you have to work with. You also need to decide if you are going to use the lighting for purposes of ambiance or if you want to simply illuminate the whole patio. If your goal is to simply set a mood, you will not need nearly as many lights.

• Choose the fixtures – After your initial patio lighting decisions have been made, you will next need to choose the exact types of patio lighting you will want to use. There are a number of different types of lights and they can easily be found at any large home improvement store. They will typically come in a wide array of colors and styles.

• Determine the spacing – Take the patio lighting and lay it along the floor of the patio. You will probably move them around a few times to determine the kind of spacing you want. Once the spacing has been determined, you are ready to install.

• Screw in the hooks – Decorative hooks for the patio lighting should next be hung in each of those places where you have determined the lights will be. String the lights through the hooks. It is best to keep the lines taught because loose wires can give a look of sloppiness.

• Hide the extension cord – Try to keep the extension cord as far out of the way as possible when plugging in your patio lighting. An extension cord could cause a tripping hazard. Also, these cords take away from the ambiance so try to hide them as well as you can.
