Patio tables

Although patio tables can be made in a variety of substances, you may want to consider the advantages and disadvantages of each substance before you make your final choice.

The three main substances from which patio tables are made are wood, glass and metal.

• Wood – Wood patio tables are aesthetically some of the nicest tables available – particularly if you are able to find a table that has handcrafted work done on it. They are also known to be pretty solid. However, the solid nature of these tables does not last forever. Due to bugs and the elements, the wood eventually begins to wear down. If you plan to have the same patio tables for decades, then perhaps wood tables might not be the best choice.

• Glass – Glass patio tables provide a striking display of elegance in nature. These tables are fairly easy to clean as long as you have a damp cloth and some glass cleaner. However, glass patio tables are also more prone to being damaged in the elements. For example, if hail were to fall, there is a good chance that your glass table could be damaged and receive a lot of little chips. Likewise, an errant baseball or other item could cause the glass to shatter if people are not careful around these patio tables.

• Metal – The effectiveness of metal patio tables often depends on the type of metal used to create the tables. For example, if aluminum is used to manufacture these patio tables, the table will probably be lightweight. This could leave it susceptible to being blown over by high winds. This could lead to scratches to the table. On the other hand, iron could be used, but using iron might make it more difficult to move the patio tables thanks to the heaviness of iron.

There are good reasons why you may or may not want to buy each one of these types of tables. The decision really depends on what your personal preferences are.
